You should be able to access your hotmail via safari. If you are talking about using the Mail tool, then there is a simple reason. Hotmail doesn't have an incoming and outgoing address to setup. Of course, since ipods are an apple product, they don't have any microsoft products pre-configured like the rest(yahoo, gmail, apple, aol)... you can get a gmail account and have your hotmail account forward all mail to that address if you want your messages to be checked on your itouch.
